Art Event Doorn – May 24, 25 and 26 2024

Last weekend the annual Art Event took place at Landgoed Zonheuvel in Doorn. Although the weather did not always cooperate, it was a fun and successful event. Thank you for coming! The following paintings were sold. I have to get to work again soon to make new ones!

Sunset, sunset, sunset – 5 May 2024

My favorite vacation is the vacation at Terschelling. Every year the same ritual: (a lot of) cycling, eating cranberry cake (at De Heeren van der Schelling in Oosterend), playing soccer, sitting in the sun on the terrace and of course painting. After dinner I cycle to the beach at Oosterend, where the beaches are very wide and it is nice and quiet. Plenty of time for a beautiful sunset, except that the sun sets so quickly…

Art Event Doorn – May 24, 25 and 26 2024

Good news! I am participating in this year’s Art Event in Doorn. This will take place on May 24, 25 and 26 at the Zonheuvel Estate in Doorn. The Art Event annually welcomes us several thousand art lovers. A variety of artworks by renowned artists will be on display. Tickets are on sale at the door and through the Cultural Region. I am raffling off a number of tickets among interested parties who receive my newsletter!

Painting on the beach! – 9 March 2024

A visitor to an open studio once asked me to paint on the beach at Zoutelande. This is really different from other beaches, where there are poles on the beach every few meters, to prevent erosion of the coast. 

A wonderful weekend of painting. The weather did not cooperate all the time, but I was still able to paint a few moments. But those poles, they did make me sweat quite a bit…. Still difficult to get a tight row of poles in my painting, without destroying the loose style!

Snow! – 19 January 2024

What a lovely morning! Snow and a beautiful sunrise, perfect. I did two paintings that day, afraid the snow would disappear! I will upload them later!

2nd Prize Hans Nijhof Artprize– 25 November 2023

The announcement of the winner of the Hans Nijhof Art Prize took place today in the orangery of Sandenburg estate. The winner is Pieter Jaspers. I came second, together with Janine van Dijk. Nice to be called ‘up-and-coming talent’! Pleased with it!

Even nicer because the painting was sold to one of the attendees.

Exhibition Painted landscape between Lek and Heuvelrug
– 4 and 5 November 2023

Four active ‘en plein air’ painters have joined forces to create an exhibition unique to the region: Karin Boers and Anne Jitske Salverda (Wijk bij Duurstede), Marieke Ackerman (Driebergen) and Rijk Roor (Odijk). The work shown is mostly made outdoors and always has as subject the beauty of the regions Utrechtse Heuvelrug and Kromme Rijngebied (from Rhenen to Utrecht).

Nominated for the Hans Nijhof Art Prize

My painting ´Cows and clouds´ is one of the five nominees for the Hans Nijhof Art Prize! I am very happy with this recognition! The prize aims to stimulate the connection between art, culture and municipalities in the region Utrechtse Heuvelrug, Wijk bij Duurstede and Rhenen. The winner’s artwork will be hung in a municipality in the region (this year: Wijk bij Duurstede). The announcement is on November 25, exciting!

Retrospective Open Studio Route Driebergen – 7 and 8 Oktober 2023

What a festive weekend it was! Many people came to visit my studio and that resulted in many nice, valuable conversations. I asked visitors for tips for painting locations, so I can discover new places in the region in the near future. I also sold 7 paintings, which of course I am also very happy about.
