It sometimes feels like a competition, painting a sunset. You never know exactly how the sun will set. Especially when painting a sunset ´en plein air´, you have to estimate a little bit how it will turn out. With my use of color I anticipated a beautiful and soft sunset. That came true, until the last 5 minutes before sunset. Then suddenly the sun turned red and the sky turned pink and purple! Feels a bit like cheating from the sun…! Despite that, I was happy with the result. The softness of the colors led me to the title of velvet sunset.
