A cold winter morning with clear sunlight and long shadows. I came across this row of pollard willows along a quiet stretch of the Klompenpad, a walking trail through the Dutch countryside. The air was crisp, the ground frozen. As the sun slowly climbed, the colors and light kept shifting. I painted this scene on location, bundled up in scarf and hat, with cold fingers on the brush.
